Interferon Lawsuits: An Overview

If you’re wondering how Interferon lawsuits affect your health and why you should consult with a medical professional for information about your condition, then you’ve come to the right place. Interferon was developed in the 1970s by a small company, Novartis, and it was a boon for those with HIV/AIDS. For years, it was the cure for AIDS and many people were convinced that it was safe. Unfortunately, some people were misinformed.

Interferon Lawsuits

Since then, Interferon has been linked to more than fifty lawsuits and more than a hundred deaths. Here are a few examples of how this drug affects you:

  • Interferon can cause a decrease in white blood cells which may lead to an increased risk for infection. In fact, it may increase your risk even if you have no HIV. A study published in 2020 showed that patients taking Interferon had a higher risk of infection, especially those who didn’t have HIV. It also increased the risk of opportunistic infections. This means that a person taking Interferon may become infected with an infection that is resistant to conventional treatments.
  • A drug like Interferon can cause high blood pressure, heart problems, and depression. Some side effects have been reported including headache, skin rash, fatigue, dizziness, and loss of appetite. In addition, it can cause a low platelet count, thrombocytopenia, and anemia.
  • Interferon can increase your risk of having cancer, especially when you have a family history of it. In fact, a large study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that nearly three-quarters of people diagnosed with lung cancer or leukemia took a certain drug called Interferon at least once during their lifetime.

Interferon lawsuits were a huge problem because doctors weren’t aware of all the possible problems with this medication. Many of these lawsuits stem from patients who were misdiagnosed with heart disease.

Some Interferon lawsuits were settled out of court because doctors had to shell out millions of dollars to settle the cases. Other lawsuits were not so lucky because they had to endure many months of therapy to get rid of Interferon, which included steroid injections, and in some cases surgery.

  • These lawsuits could be avoided if you consult with your doctor about the dangers of Interferon. You can learn more about this drug and other medications that could cause Interferon lawsuits by visiting my web site below.
  • If you decide to continue treatment, be prepared to spend a significant amount of time on the couch, as Interferon medications can leave you feeling tired and hungry for days or even weeks. You will have to take your medication over a long period of time to get results, so you may have to adjust your schedule in order to keep up your Interferon dosage. If you’re not careful, Interferon medications can even cause liver damage, kidney failure, or worse.
  • As I mentioned, Interferon lawsuits are very common because people don’t understand the potential health risks associated with taking this medication. Doctors will often prescribe Interferon but do little else.
  • If you have any questions or concerns about the side effects of Interferon, ask your doctor about them. You may want to discuss any other medications that you may be taking, such as cortisone shots, if they have side effects similar to Interferon.
  • If you think Interferon caused your injury or illness, you should speak to a lawyer about filing a lawsuit. Most doctors will not tell you the true risks of using Interferon, or they will claim that the chances of an accident or worse are slim to none.

Don’t wait until you have a complication to talk to a lawyer about the medications that you take. A doctor’s personal responsibility is important when deciding whether or not to file an Interferon lawsuit.

  1. I am suffering from the effects of in interferon/ribavarin treatments and my life has been a living hell.. I have heart disease, lung, back, arterial and eye disease with high blood pressure and Rheumatoid and Psoriatic Arthritis. My doctors say Interferon treatments are more than likely to blame. I want to bring a lawsuit on the doctor who told me the side effects would be gone weeks after I finished the treatments. It has been more than a decade.

  2. I’m in Australia, I went on the interferon trial at Royal Adelaide Hospital in 1998, I had to inject my stomach or thigh 3-4 times a week for nearly a year, during this time I ended up in hospital as I wanted to commit suicide, my hair fell out and I was fitting into clothes for an 8 year old. Now I have rheumatoid arthritis, polymyalgia, chronic headaches, my emotions are shot and I forget so many things. I feel like life has no meaning and at times I don’t want to continue. The drug is evil

  3. I was on interferon/ribavarin … For Hepatits … 6 months into treatment had to be removed from it … Lost alot of hair .. Alot of weight … To this day …. I tire very easily . A year an half after the treatment stopped .. I ended up with cancer … Suffered through that .. Only to have to go through it once again in 2021 … What ever is in that stuff .. IS NOT good …

  4. Was on interferon ribivarin for 6 mins. Alfa2b treatment. I was told I’d feel like I had a cold after I took my weekly shot. WRONG ! If I’d have known them what I know now. I’d have never taken it. I’d have let the hep c take it’s course. The stuff changed my life forever.Double diagnosed severe depression. Double diagnosed severe PTSD. I hurt all over. My eyesight went overnight. I don’t do anything but sit on my couch. It totally blew my candle out. I went from 248lbs to 162 lbs in 2 1/2 mos. I used to hunt fish work. All the stuff a guy needs to do. I don’t and haven’t done any 9f those things since treatment. That was 2005. I’d give anything to sue the asshole doctor and the pharmisutical company. I couldn’t even get a primary doctor to listen to me. I’d bring up interferon. And they wouldn’t even acknowledge my question. It want until mayo clinic gave it a title ( post interferon syndrome) that doctors would at least acknowledge it was bad stuff. Good luck. If anyone knows of any legal action. Please leave me a message. Good luck

  5. I started the treatment in 2009 for the 48 week treatment. I am still sick. Can’t work, ssdi, No life. If I would have known I would NEVER have chose the treatment. Lost everything.
