Marlboro Light Lawsuit

law

Marlboro Light and Power Company (MPL) have been in business for over a century. In the early part of this century, they have built many nuclear power stations and nuclear generating stations. There are two major issues with the company that are being litigated in the current litigation. One of them deals with workers’ compensation claims and the second is over their treatment of residents living in the leaking nuclear plant.

Marlboro Light LawSuit

The plaintiffs in this lawsuit are represented by the Law Institute of Massachusetts. They have filed a class-action lawsuit on behalf of the residents living in the communities surrounding the nuclear plant. This lawsuit claims not only harm to the residents but to the surrounding communities as well, due to the adverse effects of the leaking nuclear plant into the atmosphere and into the ground water.

The Law Institute filed a claim on behalf of six residents who suffered water damage.

They are claiming monetary damages for personal injuries, loss of wages, future wages lost, pain and suffering, and damages to their property. These claims are on behalf of all the people residing in three residential communities in Marlboro, West Springfield, and Hanford. This claim was brought forth as a result of the radioactive plume that leaked at the nuclear plant. The plume released high levels of radiation into the air, into the soil, and into the ground water.

This claim involves three separate cases.

The first case is brought on behalf of the people that were exposed to the Plume. This claim seeks a judgment for the negligence of the plant’s operator. The second claim is brought on behalf of those that were exposed to the water itself. Finally, there is the claim brought on behalf of all those that have suffered illnesses as a result of the contamination.

The Law Institute represents these individuals. The organization has already won several similar cases in the past. This particular lawsuit follows a different pattern than many others. In most lawsuits, there are expert witnesses called to testify about the dangers of exposure to dangerous radioactive substances. Not so with this case.

Although the plaintiffs are seeking compensation for their suffering, they are also claiming damages for the costs associated with having their homes remediated.

After the Plume leak, the residents were faced with being unable to use their pools and spas. These expenses amount to about $100,000. The Marlboro Light lawsuit is on behalf of all those that suffered medical expenses because of the water contamination.
