North American Hunting Club Lawsuit

The North American Hunting Club lawsuit that has been filed against the state of Alaska is a personal injury case. While a personal injury claim might not seem like a big deal, the fact of the matter is that most claims of personal injury are brought against the party that caused the damage.

North American Hunting Club Lawsuit

The hunting club was responsible for the death of a woman named Lisa Elliott. Her body was found floating in the waters off of Barrow Island, where the Club had a large hunting preserve.

The claim says that the Hunt had placed her on the ice and left her there for four days, as well as the subsequent killing of her dog and several other animals. The suit says that she suffered emotional distress after the Hunt’s alleged actions and is suing for damages. The lawsuit is filed by Elliott’s son, who is an attorney.

The American Hunting Club maintains that the suit is nothing but “smears.” They argue that it would be a waste of time and money to defend the lawsuit and that the state of Alaska has failed to prove any sort of negligence.

The state of Alaska is arguing that the Hunt is responsible for everything that happened to Elliott.

They have said that the Hunt knew that she was in an area that was dangerous, that the Hunt had a right to protect its property, and that he should have known that the ice on which Elliott was resting was slippery. There are several reasons why the Hunt may have taken Elliott into this dangerous area.

According to the suit, the Club took an interest in the history of the Arctic and had been active participants in the sport of polar bear hunting. In addition, the Club had used animals from this same region in many of its past bear hunts, thus explaining the increased concern for safety.

If you are a resident of Alaska and you have been injured because of the negligence or carelessness of another person, it is wise to contact an experienced attorney who specializes in protecting the rights of people in the state. These attorneys will be able to advise you on whether or not you have a case.

In essence, the Club has to prove that the Hunt is responsible for the injuries sustained by Elliott. Otherwise, the lawsuit cannot be filed against the Club.

In the lawsuit, the Club contends that the polar bear hunting season was canceled due to bad weather. The Club contends that the Club never expected the polar bears to become active in the season and that the cancellation of the hunting season caused the polar bears to seek shelter in the Arctic tundra where they could not survive. It claims that the cancellation also forced the Hunt to leave Elliott alone. in an area that was considered too dangerous.

Because of this, the Club contends that the Hunt did not take adequate precautions to protect its property, and that the cancellation of the hunting season caused the Hunt to be held liable. for the loss of Elliott.

The Club’s attorney, John Coughlin, declined to comment on the lawsuit until he had a chance to review the complaint. The lawsuit is a complex matter and is unlikely to be resolved soon.

A representative from the American Hunting Club was not available to comment. However, the Club states that it will fight the lawsuit vigorously and that Elliott is an innocent party in the case. The Club is represented by a well-known Anchorage lawyer, David Martin.

The American Hunting Club lawsuit is one of several lawsuits challenging hunting in Alaska in recent years, and other suits have been filed by Alaska residents claiming negligent carelessness on the part of hunters. Each case raises the same question: Why take a risk?

  1. Good Luck Getting Anyone To Represent The NAHC…They have ripped many life members off and took our monies to buy their own personal hunting preserves…

    1. My husband is also a life member since the 90’s. Has not received anything from NAHC since 2016. We just figured they went out of business but we never received notice of it.

  2. They got acquired by another publishing company and did so without notifying any members of what to expect going forward. Seems selling life memberships is a good way to generate lots of money and no legal mandate to maintain such privileges. We have soo many laws in this country yet nothing to deal with scammers. What is considered lifetime. The life of the member or the life of the club? NRA is not far from NAHC. NAHC squandered the finances of their membership dues, club merchandise, books, jewelry, clothing etc. They left their member out to dry, let them have it.

  3. yap yap yap me too they got me as well i purchased a life membership around 2005 got a gun case, card, sticker bought the North american hunting odyssey tapes , the collectable coins, and much more. have not heard from them now for bought 10 yrs tried multiple times to notify them with no success. North American hunting club what a scam

  4. I am a Life member also for many years and purchased several thousand dollars of product over the years and poof it all stopped. No nothing from them for many years. Yes lawsuit needs to be filed against them or who ever owns them now. We purchased Life Membership with the company and no notification they are going out of business. Very poor business practices. They need to PAY.

  5. I am a life member since 1994, about 20 years ago when I stopped buying things from them I stopped getting any offers in the mail to buy their junk, I also stopped receiving my magazine that was supposed to be getting for life, what a scam this is and all I have to show for it is a worthless jacket that I never wear and some worthless coins that they suckered me into buying!

  6. Been a member since the early 90’s. I haven’t heard anything for years and was wondering what happened. But after seeing all of these reviews I understand why. Yeah, a lawsuit would be great, maybe we can get the lawyer from Alaska to get the lawsuit underway since people want to be selfish with the lifetime members money.

  7. So I’m not the only one. Lifetime membership, I’m still living but the ship as seller away with my money.

  8. I’m a life member and got nothing after my life package and several magazines. I’m sure they have a worthless excuse.

  9. I am a life time member 2006 when i got it. I wont to know what can be done about are money we paid for are Life time Member??

  10. I’ve been a life member since 1993. I too want my membership dues refunded. I haven’t received anything for the last 8 to 10 years. What a rip off. 30 years in the military and this is what I get. Shame. shame, shame…

  11. I also am a NAHC life member sense the mid 90’s as well. If the organization is no more then where is all the money that i gave them to become a member? I was also a field tester paid in good money to do it too, and was never sent anything. how do I get get in on the Lawsuit? If I can’t get what I was promised them at least I should get my money back.

  12. I have a lifetime member wall plaque they sent me that states member in good standing . . . I just wonder where they stand?!

  13. I as well joined the NAHC in 1995 and became a life member in 1998, I received a fake leather jacket and a belt buckle.

Later I became a field tester and received the most ridiculous excuses for field equipment , (“bug repellent wipes, camouflage mouthwash, credit card magnifying fire starter , etc”) I stopped receiving the magazines in 2005 and have been unable to reach anyone affiliated with the club for the last 16yrs.

I am a 9 yr NAVY veteran and have always been a law abiding and safety first type of hunter and it saddens my heart to see myself and hundreds if not thousands of my fellow Americans done this dirty.

I feel that the lifetime members should be reimbursed the full lifetime membership fee as compensation for loyal devoted American citizens that share a common love for ethical hunting!

Life member since 1998. God Bless all.

  14. II thought it was just me, I became a life member in 2003. Got a vest, rifle case, belt buckle and patches. I’ve heard nothing from them in about 15 years.. I guess it was a big scam. I still have the rifle case and one of the patches. I wrote them off as out of business a long time ago.

  15. Lifetime member since 2006. My wife bought me a lifetime membership for my birthday. It was a great gift then……. Received nothing but a few magazines years ago. All I want is the money-back you owe us.

  16. I want my money back. Time to get a lawyer and get multiple class action lawsuits going on the old club and the new club.

  17. I was a member around 1998 for a few years..They sent me things to try out like a filet knife, different types of wipes etc. pure crap as far as I’m concerned, but they also quit sending me my monthly magazine as well..I was getting them all along then it seemed like it was every other month and then it just stopped..I did receive a lifetime package in the mail unexpectedly one day and in it was a nice plaque, belt buckle and a few other kool things which was weird because I was never a lifetime member..I made sure that they weren’t taking money out of my bank account every month without and authorization..I due pray that the wonderful members who were lifetime members will be successful on their lawsuits if they are able to get them..
The NAFC North American Fishing Club was the same way and poof they were gone!!

  18. Long time member some 30 years. Received my package for joining, gun case, patches and a life member sticker. I have not heard a word since. It would be nice to get something back for our faith in an organization we thought was promoting hunting and outdoor scenarios of life in the outdoors.

  19. I also am a life time member. I haven’t received anything from them in quite a few years. I have been a life time member since 1993 and received stupid little things to test out, but nothing substantial. I would love to know if anyone has gotten any money back from them.

    1. I have been a Trophy Life member since the ’80’s and I received no money from them even when I requested a full refund when they did not delivery on their promises.

  20. I became a Trophy life Member in the ’80’s, and like everyone else received my magazine for a few years then it went away. Received a few cheap items to test and then they stopped. If there ever is a class action suit against them I would like to be part of it.

  21. how sad I was also a life member and bought stuff from them will we ever be will we get our money back ? we deserve more because those people running that club hurt me and a whole lot of my fellow hunters you all need to step up and do the right thing.

  22. Wow never thought a hunting club would screw people over.been a life member for ever, got all the stuff, coat, buckles , tapes, plates. Now you can’t trust anybody. Hope somebody gets even with NAHC

  23. I too paid for a lifetime membership. Received a few magazines and a lifetime NAHC jacket. Then I stopped receiving anything

  24. I was in the first few hundred to become a life member .LIke everyone else was getting the Magazines, was buying the videos on hunting, which i still have, then everything stopped, i tried several times to contact them,, by phone, email.
but nothing..i figured they just must have shut down, what upset me that i wasn’t notified they were going out..
If there is a law suit, I’m in..
